Media Finally Paying Attention to Possible Collusion With Russians by Clinton Gang & Democrats (Maybe)
The media, by and large, has been almost hysterical in its coverage about unproven claims that President Trump’s campaign somehow colluded with the Russian government to win last year’s election.
At the same time, the MSM has essentially ignored any hint of wrongdoing by the Clinton gang and their cronies at the Democratic National Committee.
Maybe, just maybe, the media is beginning to rediscover its two most basic tenets: Fairness AND Accuracy.
I bring this up because even my local newspaper, the Tampa Bay Times, has finally printed something related to what may be THE actual act of collusion in last year’s election.
They even printed one of my letters pointing out this lack of coverage of potential criminality by Clinton Incorporated.
The Times picked up a Washington Post report Tuesday (Oct. 24) showing that the Clinton Campaign and the Democratic National Committee paid millions of dollars to Fusion GPS to produce much of the so-called Trump Dossier.
This Fusion GPS ‘dossier’ ultimately alleged possible coordination between the Russians and President Trump’s campaign last year.
“I think that our position hasn’t changed since day one and I think we are seeing now that if there was any collusion with Russia, it was between the DNC and the Clintons and certainly not our campaign.”
- Sarah Sanders, White House Press Secretary, in a press hearing Friday (Oct. 27).
These spurious allegations remain unproven — and denied by the President — despite a media frenzy and millions of dollars spent on Congressional investigations prompted by Democrats (and most of the media) who remain bitter over last year’s loss to Trump.
One irony here is that Fusion GPS, a Washington, D.C. firm, has been used by the Kremlin and Putin in the past to try and influence Congressional efforts to sanction Russia.
Frankly, the use of foreign investigators by the Democrats in and of itself deserves more scrutiny.
Then again, maybe this type of foreign outsourcing is acceptable to most Democrats since the Obama administration spent $350,000 of the taxpayers money to influence an election in Israel in an unsuccessful attempt to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
So much for the holier-than-thou ‘progressives’ who have been indignant over a foreign government trying to affect an election in another country.
These Russian attempts to influence the Obama administration — and the successor that everyone assumed would be Hillary Clinton — came about because of the Uranium One deal.
This has included some $145 million ‘donated’ to the Clinton Foundation, a $500,000 speech by former President Clinton and stock or other corporate benefits from Russian-controlled interests to former Clinton campaign director John Podesta and his brother.
Somehow, I don’t think all of this money flowed from Vladamir Putin toward the Clintons because the Russians wanted to fight disease and end hunger in Africa.
In fact, Real Clear Politics reported Wednesday (Oct. 25) that “the Podesta brothers and Paul Manafort (who briefly managed the Trump campaign) are the ‘central figures’ in (special prosecutor) Robert Mueller’s investigation, not President Trump.”
Fox broadcaster Tucker Carlson said the source told him about events that implicate Manafort, the Podesta brothers, Hillary Clinton and her State Department, and Russian oligarchs, according to the Real Clear Politics report. The source has been interviewed by Mueller’s independent investigators, Carlson said.
The media, including the Times, has been almost hysterical about things like the Russians spending $100,000 on Facebook ads instead of focusing on the dangers of Russian control of one fifth of America’s uranium, which, by the way, can be used to create nuclear weapons that can kill countless millions of people.
Hmmmm. Facebook ads or atomic bombs? Which one is more important?
No wonder polls going into last year’s election showed that at least two thirds of the American people distrusted Hillary Clinton.
Maybe it’s finally time for the media to join the rest of us and also develop some healthy skepticism.
… For more than a year now, that Democratic Media Complex has been shrieking about Russia this and Trump that and collusion this and collusion that. The Trump-Russia collusion theme has been a chorus of barking dogs everywhere you turn … The driving force has been a partisan desire to excuse Hillary Clinton for losing her 2016 election to Trump … Many, but not all, of the Russia stories have been debunked, and precious little, if any, evidence has come out of the congressional investigations directly linking the president to an alleged effort by the Russians to steal Clinton’s presidency.”
Ultimately, it’s a hopeful sign that the Times and others are at least raising questions about campaign practices by Clinton and the Democrats last year. More important, they’re starting to look at mischief involving the Clinton Foundation, Hillary and Bill Clinton, the DNC and others.
Sure, it’s probably events beyond their control that are actually forcing the Times and most of the rest of the media to take notice.
One can only imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth in liberal newsrooms across America as the Fourth Estate is now beginning to grudgingly publish and broadcast stories about the sale of so much American uranium to Russian interests during the Obama administration while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State.
But it still feels good to see such stories finally coming to light by mainstream publications and broadcasters, even if it’s just reluctantly.
A critical aspect of these stories center on how the Kremlin ultimately gained control of 20 percent of America’s uranium in the sale seven years ago of Uranium One, a Canadian mining company, to Rosatom, a Russian state-owned company. This was accomplished through a process that included then Secretary of State Clinton and many others in the Obama Administration.
Maybe this is what prompted such a glowing endorsement by Secretary Clinton of her infamous Russian ‘reset’ button.
In fact, people involved in the Uranium One sale were investigated by Obama’s Justice Department for possible racketeering and bribery charges. But then it was essentially shelved by the FBI, according to a report last week by The Hill and other national media but never reported in the print version of the Times.
The FBI during the Obama Administration even went so far as to obtain a gag order to prevent a key witness — an informer familiar with the Uranium One deal — from testifying before Congress.
The Justice Department under Trump this week finally lifted that order, enabling testimony to take place next week in Congress. Justice also has agreed to turn over documents to the Congress on this matter that have been withheld for several months.
Devin Nunes, the Republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, announced Tuesday (Oct. 24) that his panel would investigate the Uranium One sale.
It will be interesting to see how the media, including The Tampa Bay Times, covers the upcoming testimony of the confidential informant — assuming that the witness doesn’t conveniently die of a heart attack or commits ‘suicide’ before testifying.
What does it all mean?
At a minimum, a case could certainly be made that the Clintons and the DNC gang that couldn’t shoot straight violated federal election laws for trying to disguise this expense as ‘legal fees.’
Ultimately, though, the real treat could be the exquisite irony of the Democrats and their media pals using this ‘dossier’ to cry collusion and prompt the appointment of a special prosecutor.
Instead, the Frankenstein monster, i.e. Mueller, may now turn on the Podesta boys and, God willing, the entire Clinton family.
But whatever faults Clinton and the DNC had in 2016, at least they were consistent. They lied and used subterfuge to steal a primary from Bernie Sanders and tried to do the same thing to steal a general election.
Oh, well, one out of two ain’t bad.
Talk about having my uranium yellow cake and eating it too.
